Class Descriptions
~ BELLY BOLLY DANCE FUSION ~
This class blends East Indian dance styles with traditional and contemporary. Moves include flavors of Bhangra, Bellydance, Hip Hop and more. People have been grooving to these beats over the span of time near and far. Belly Bolly Stars include Dev Patel of Slumdog Millionaire, Miss America 2014, Shakira, and others. Bollywood is hitting the states as one of the most up-and-coming group dances, for all! Channel your inner star in this full-body activity. The beginning of each class starts slow, progressing into routines to keep you fresh and strong with your own dance exploration. No experience necessary. Drop-ins always welcome.
~ COUNTRY 2-STEP ~
A fun partner dance with a "quick, quick, slow, slow" rhythm that's danced in a circle around the room with other couples. Lots of spins and smiles. If you only learn one Country Western partner dance, this should be it; it's a fun dance done to peppy music, a staple of Country music at every dance event! If you can walk, you can country 2 step! NO partner needed to join this class.
~ HULA ~
Students learn auana (modern) kahiko (ancient) and Polynesian dances. Our Halau (School) Hula 'O Nuku 'Āina (A Passage in the Land) started in Grants Pass in 2011 under the direction of Kat Greene. Since then, haumana (students) of all ages have been coming together to explore the music, dances and traditional crafts of Hawaii and Polynesia. Our goal is to share the hula experience throughout the Rogue Valley for enjoyment, education and the support of cultural diversity. Visit www.HulaKat.com for more information.
~ LINE DANCING ~
Learn to line dance with Maryann! Line dancing teaches dancers how to do basic moves such as a rock step, grape vine, weave, triple step, lock step, musicality, notes, and more. Line dances have grown to include learning steps used in West Coast & East Coast Swing, Latin such as Mambo, Rumba & Cha Cha, Waltz and Polka. Maryann's Line Dance class is for all levels. She creates a very welcoming atmosphere, so don't worry if you feel you have 2 left feet!
~ NIGHTCLUB 2-STEP ~
Smooth, elegant and graceful ballroom dance taught by Paul and Laurie. Can be danced to songs like "Lady in Red" or Michael Buble's "Home." All levels welcome, no partner needed.
~ SALSA ~
This is one of the most fun and energetic dances out there ~ it's great exercise, and easy to learn! Once you know some salsa, you'll have a built-in community of dance friends no matter where you travel in the world! No partner needed.
~ TURN UP DANCE FITNESS ~
The Turn Up is a hip hop-based, dance fitness & HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout. You will burn fat, build muscle, boost metabolism, & scorch some major calories during a 1 hour class - all while shaking that booty! What to bring: WATER No dance experience needed! Ages 16 and older unless authorized by instructor
~ WEST COAST SWING ~
West Coast Swing is a smooth, stretchy dance in which connection, creativity and musicality are priorities! It can be danced to many genres of music, including blues, Motown and contemporary music heard on the radio today. It's great to know for weddings, parties or a night on the town with live music. Once you know the fundamentals, it's easy to "play" within the music and express your own unique style. Beginner classes are 45 minutes long with some practice time afterward.
